Reinhard Ambros was appointed global head of the Novartis Venture Fund in April 2006 after being Managing Director of the Novartis BioVenture Fund, Cambridge, USA. Previously he worked with Novartis Corporate Finance where he held the position of Head of Group Strategic Planning for several years. Earlier he was responsible for post merger integrations at Novartis Corporate M&A and prior to that held the position of global head BD&L for cardiovascular and metabolic diseases at Novartis Pharma. Early in his career he had global leadership positions with increasing responsibilities for key drug development projects at Novartis and Roche. He trained as a pharmacist, has a PhD in medicinal chemistry and pharmacology, and focused postdoctoral training in clinical pharmacology.
Ajit S. Gill

Ajit Gill is a medical industry veteran with experience developing and commercializing biopharmaceutical products, creating successful partnerships, raising funds, and growing companies from start-ups to publicly traded firms. During his fourteen year tenure at Nektar Therapeutics, the company developed a leading drug delivery technology portfolio, completed over 30 strategic alliances with biopharmaceutical partners, and commercialized products with these partners that account for over $4.5 billion in sales. Since leaving Nektar, Mr. Gill has served as CEO of Auspex Pharmaceuticals and as Entrepreneur-in-Residence for US Venture Partners of Menlo Park, California. Earlier in his career he held a variety of roles including general management, finance, business development and operations in the computer and other industries. Originally from India, Mr. Gill completed his B. Tech in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, his MS in electrical engineering from the University of Nebraska and his MBA from the University of Western Ontario.

Michael Greeley is a General Partner at Flybridge Capital Partners focused on information technology, healthcare and medical technology investments. Michael currently represents the firm on the boards of BlueTarp, MicroCHIPS, Predictive Biosciences, Protein Forest and VidSys and led the firm's investments in T2 Biosystems and Magen BioSciences. Michael founded IDG Ventures Atlantic in 2001 before it transitioned to Flybridge Capital Partners in 2008. Previously, Michael was with Polaris Venture Partners, where he focused on both early-stage and later-stage financings for emerging growth companies. Before Polaris, Michael served as Senior Vice President and Founding Partner of GCC Investments. Prior to GCC Investments, Michael worked at Wasserstein Perella & Co., Morgan Stanley & Co. and Credit Suisse First Boston. Michael currently serves as the President of the New England Venture Capital Association and serves on the investment committee of the Partners Healthcare Fund. He is also a member of the Executive Business Advisory Council for Mass General Hospital for Children, and a trustee and on the investment committee of the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. Michael received a BA with honors in Chemistry from Williams College and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Charles Hutchinson, PhD

Charles Hutchinson served as director and President of GlycoFi after co-founding the company in 2000 until its acquisition by Merck in 2006. Prior to GlycoFi, Dr. Hutchinson served as a John H. Krehbiel Senior Professor for Emerging Technologies at the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth and as the Dean of the Thayer School. Dr. Hutchinson has been a member of the boards of directors for several companies and is a recognized leader in advanced technologies, both in academia and business. Dr. Hutchinson received his PhD from Stanford in 1963, his MSEE from Stanford in 1961 and his BSEE from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1957.

Robert Langer, an Institute Professor at MIT, is the winner of numerous awards including the Gairdner Foundation International Award, the holder of over 500 patents, and the author of more than 850 scholarly papers. He was described by Forbes Magazine as one of the 25 most important individuals in biotechnology in the world. He received the Lemelson-MIT prize, for being "one of history's most prolific inventors in medicine," and is one of a very few individuals who are members of all three of the National Academy of Science, the National Academy of Engineering, and the National Institute of Medicine. He is a co-founder of MicroCHIPS.

Terry McGuire is a co-founder and Managing General Partner of Polaris Venture Partners. Mr. McGuire has 17 years of successful investing experience. He is a co-founder of MicroCHIPS, a founder of Inspire Pharmaceuticals and Advanced Inhalation Research, and Vice Chairman of deCODE Genetics. He serves on the boards of the Thayer School of Engineering, Dartmouth College; the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research; and the Advisory Board of the Arthur Rock Center for Entrepreneurship, Harvard Business School. Mr. McGuire holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, an MS in engineering from The Thayer School at Dartmouth College, and a BS in physics and economics from Hobart College.
Stephen N. Oesterle, MD

Stephen Oesterle joined Medtronic in January 2002, after serving as Associate Professor of Medicine at the Harvard University Medical School and Director of Invasive Cardiology Services at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. In his position as Senior Vice President for Medicine and Technology, Dr. Oesterle provides executive leadership for Medtronic scientific research, formation of technological strategies and continued development of strong cooperative relationships with the world's medical communities. A world-recognized clinician, teacher and innovator in the field of cardiac catheterization, Dr. Oesterle developed and directed interventional cardiology programs at Good Samaritan Hospital, Los Angeles, at Georgetown University and at Stanford University. Dr. Oesterle is a 1973 summa cum laude graduate of Harvard College and received his medical doctorate from Yale University. His internship and residency years were at Massachusetts General Hospital and he served a fellowship in interventional cardiology at Stanford.
