President & CEO MicroCHIPS, Inc.

John Santini is an entrepreneur with over a decade of experience in drug delivery and biosensing. Under his leadership, MicroCHIPS has attracted top tier venture capital and corporate investors, demonstrated the first long-term implantable drug delivery microchip, and is developing a long-term implantable glucose sensor for diabetes management based on the company’s proprietary reservoir array technology. He is a recognized expert in the application of microtechnology in healthcare and has over 60 issued/pending patents. Dr. Santini was honored in 2008 as one of Popular Science Magazine’s Annual “Brilliant 10”, and in 2002 as one of the Top 100 Young Innovators in the world by Technology Review Magazine. He obtained his PhD in chemical engineering from MIT with Professors Robert Langer and Michael Cima as a National Science Foundation Fellow, and his BSE in chemical engineering from the University of Michigan.

Robert Crane is a seasoned executive with strong general management and financial experience who has had involvement at all levels in the starting, building, turnaround and financing of healthcare companies. Bob has extensive experience with public and private companies, corporate partnerships in the U.S. as well as Europe and Japan, fundraising both private and public, sale of companies and product lines as well as the acquisition of companies and technologies. He has been the CFO of several successful healthcare companies as well as a venture capitalist. He earned his MBA from Stanford and his Bachelors from MIT.

Robert Farra
Vice President, Research and Development

Robert Farra has over two decades of leadership experience successfully developing complex electro-mechanical medical devices. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Engineering and Manufacturing for Abiomed, leading the development of intra-aortic balloon pumps and ventricular assist devices. Mr. Farra has also held leadership positions at Accellent Endoscopy and Arthur D. Little, Inc. (ADL) where he led multidisciplinary teams in the development of numerous minimally invasive surgical instruments and interventional devices. Mr. Farra holds a BSME from University of Massachusetts, Lowell and an SMME from MIT. Mr. Farra holds nine domestic and international patents.

Maggie Pax
Vice President of Business Development

Maggie Pax is an experienced medical device executive with a track record of new business creation and market development for innovative medical technologies. At Hewlett-Packard Medical Products Group (now Philips Medical Systems), Maggie held senior roles in marketing, strategic business planning and corporate partnering. As Vice President of Marketing for OmniSonics Medical Technologies, Maggie led market development, product launch, post-market clinical studies and strategic product planning for the company's novel therapeutic peripheral vascular device business. Maggie earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and her Bachelors from the College of the Holy Cross.
