MicroCHIPS Technology

The key component of MicroCHIPS’ technology is its proprietary reservoir arrays.  Any combination of drugs or biosensors can be stored within the reservoirs, thereby protecting these sensitive reservoir contents from the environment (e.g., a patient’s body) until they are needed.  Preprogrammed microprocessors, wireless telemetry, or sensor feedback loops can provide active control of the opening of the reservoirs to initiate drug release or expose enclosed biosensors, thus giving the physician or patient greater control over therapy.  Alternatively, layers or other combinations of controlled release, polymeric matrices can provide passive control of the release or exposure of the reservoir contents in applications that do not require microprocessors or power sources.

MicroCHIPS’ reservoir technology is unique in that it can provide the basis for a stand-alone, intelligent medical device unlike anything available on the market, or it can provide market differentiation for an existing product when incorporated as a new feature.

MicroCHIPS extensive patent portfolio is another indicator of the uniqueness of our technology.  MicroCHIPS currently has 19 issued/allowed US patents, 35 pending US patent applications, 9 issued/allowed international patents, and 19 pending international patent applications.
